Freshman Year Dorm Tour!

by - Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Last Wednesday, I finished my freshman year of college, which is insane for me to think about. Sometimes I think I am still a middle schooler dreaming of high school and college and finally fleeing the nest. Although I am already moved out, I took some pictures of when my room was all set up and thought I'd post them showing you what my freshman dorm looked like!

As soon as you walk into my dorm room, you see on the left-hand side my closet. I have a towel rack on the side of my closet, where I hang up the towel necessities, and I put a poster above the towel rack that was from my Big. In the actual closet, I keep all of my shoes, clothes, and my shower caddy as well as a costume bin and a bin full of swimsuits on the top shelf inside my closet. On the side of my closet, I have 3 whiteboard type calendars posted up to keep track of dates and my weekly schedule. We keep our mini fridge on my side, because as you will see in future photos I have my dresser pulled out so I can have a makeup vanity and a place to film with the window lighting. Next, you see my desk and the beginnings of my bulletin board. On my desk, I have my keurig, a lamp, my perfumes next to my keurig and all of my books stacked directly below. My desk looks a bit cluttered, but I like how I am able to store all of my items. The biggest necessity in this area for me is my fan, as my dorm has no air conditioning and I would probably not survive without it! In my drawers I keep hair products, a random drawer of stuff like index cards and cleaning wipes, and a bunch of paper and school supplies.

My bedding is from bed bath and beyond, and my roommate has the same one but in blue. A big recommendation I would make is to coordinate your bed spread and color scheme with your roommate and it can make everything look more cohesive. I have 6 large drawers under my bed which store pants, food, sweaters, and sweatshirts. I would definitely recommend under the bed storage as it really helps with the extending the amount of space you have in your dorm room. I got the ottoman from target and it is a perfect step stool to getting onto a lofted bed as well as a seat for when I do my makeup. I also find that it is great storage and I keep all of my shorts and extra towels in there!

Finally, moving on to the last part of my dorm tour. As I stated before I pulled out my dresser to create a makeup vanity area. I keep my brushes and my everyday makeup in the acrylic organizer and a mason jar and a pencil cup. The first drawer of my dresser I dedicate to other makeup items and I created a perfect vanity area. The lighting is great as it is all natural lighting and I am so happy with how this area turned out.
My freshman year at the University of Southern California was amazing, and I am pleased with the final product of my dorm. If you have any questions or any posts you would like to see next leave them below in the comments! I hope you all have wonderful summers (:
