Favorite Way to Do My Nails:

I used to almost always dread doing my nails. They always ended up smudged, had a fingerprint on them, chipped, or ruined. I hated the dry time, I always wanted to do a bunch of stuff as soon as I painted my nails. The waiting period for them to dry was the worst and if you by accident touched them before they were 100% dry, you would get a fingerprint on that nail. Lately, I have been giving myself at home gel manicures and I have been loving it! Around 3 years ago, I bought the sensationails kit for at home gel manis. I enjoyed it, used the starter color I got, pink chiffon, but then it just got put in a cabinet in my bathroom and forgot about. A couple of days ago, I got it out again and I have been loving it.

The best part about the sensationail kit is that there is no dry time. After you put them in the LED lamp for the amount of time they tell you, they are hardened and you don't have to wait to dry. For the price of around 2 professional gel manicures you can get the starter kit. I personally don't have the time or budget (yay college) to go to a salon to get a manicure every two weeks, so sensationail has been a lifeline. They feel identical to a salon gel manicure and have a very similar staying power. I've been wearing my current manicure for 3 days and they look identical to when I did them.

Downsides:

I still have a few issues with this product. I find that it does not last the same amount of time as a professional gel mani. I get about a week and a half of wear to two weeks, which is still way longer than I get with a traditional nail polish. Another issue is how easy it is to get the polish on you skin, resulting in a painful experience. With this system, and any gel system, you have to be extremely careful to not get polish on your skin or cuticles. If you do, it hardens to the skin and is a painful situation.

All around, I have been loving the sensationail system. Below is my current manicure with the rose gold glitter shade.

Monica Marie
