Where Have I Been?

by - Saturday, November 26, 2016

Unfortunately, this semester ended up being a lot busier than I ever thought it would be. I decided to put up a quick update post updating you all about how my semester has been and my new promises for the rest of the semester/ the next year. With everything, I always want to try and give my 110% and sometimes I have to give up something in order to get 110% in everything else.

Studying

This semester has been the semester of studying. I am taking 18 units, the max I am allowed to take, and I am a civil engineering major. Engineering is hard. I knew that picking the major, but I did not completely know that I would be studying for 8-9 hours every day on top of over 25 hours of class a week. I had to step up and prioritize. Being at school, my academics always have to take first for me. Then I focus on my sorority and my relationships with family and friends. Unfortunately, the blog and my youtube had to stick on the back burner.

Extra Curriculars

I currently am the sisterhood chair for my sorority! A super fun job, I am constantly planning fun events for all the girls to do to bond! Unfortunately, this is time-consuming as I try to plan at least 3 events a month. Also, I am involved on the club swim team which practices twice a week and I try to go to yoga at least once a week. In addition, I am in a mentoring program where I have an engineering mentor! Extremely busy, hahaha.

Life

I turned 19 this semester which was insane. I feel really old, even though I know I'm only a sophomore in college. 19 feels a lot older than 18 or 17 though! I also had to deal with a rough housing situation, but fortunately, I was able to move out. Being in college I want to be able to go out with my friends and go to frat parties and I knew I had to make time with friends another big priority in order to keep some sort of social life. I lately have been having issues with my anxiety. There were a number of factors that set it off, and it had been increasing until about 2 weeks ago. Thankfully I have had the support of family and friends to deal with it in a way that is productive to me. If you'd be interested in a full post about how I deal with it in college let me know! I would love to share more about my personal life, but I think I want to dedicate a full blog post to it when I am more comfortable.

For my sanity, when I am giving 110% to academics, sometimes something else has to give. Honestly, this has been one of the hardest semesters with a lot of other stuff going on in my personal life as well. I have made a decision to add an extra semester on to my studies in order to do everything I want to do. I want to make a full post dedicated to this decision!
